Using VoIP - Simply

Postby Abusanaa » Mon Apr 16, 2007 11:28 am

Hi all

I want to use VoIP, but I am not in the US or another country where you can have VoIP service providers. In my small country, there is no service provider. And as far as I know, VoIP is not forbidden here.

All I have is an ADSL connection, a strong machine with gadgets and phones. I want to know how I can use X-Lite and other products like eye-beam to be able to use VoIP.

What should I need else? How do I proceed? Thanks a lot

X-lite and SIP Proxy

Postby Jumpster » Wed Aug 06, 2008 1:01 pm

You can set up your own SIP VoIP network using a SIP Proxy and Registrar. Download a personal edition from Brekeke Software and try it out:

in Step 3, just use another X-lite on a second computer, instead of the VoIp hard phone.

This will allow you to make x-lite to x-lite calls. To dial from x-lite to a regular phone, you will need to add a mediagateway card. Here are some basic info on that topic:

Ok, I wanted to find out from people who make a lot of international calls what the cheapest method is to do this? I mean, my girl is in the Philippines and I’m just dialing my regular number and sometimes my phone bill is like $300-$400. Some people recommended I get a VOIP line instead of my phone and till be cheaper. And other people are saying Skype. What’s the cheapest way to call to the Philippines? Is VOIP cheaper?

I am considering using voip for an existing remote sales team. I need to be able to moniter call time, record and listen to their calls. I have a small budget and little knowledge of this method. Thank you

That is usually accomplished with server side records and not from the client.

You did not say want country you are from but yes, you should be able to get voip service as long as you have internet service aregardless of where the voip service provider is located. You can try the instructions above for example and you might also try Skype - that is what I use. Good luck,
