iPhone Bria calls over VPN

Bria is wonderful for what it already does but would be even more value if it worked over iPhone PPTP VPN.

I ahve an account with strong PPTP VPN. When the VPN is established browsing works. Bria registers but when a call is made just shows "Calling".

I can get calls to setup using our Cisco VPN and IPSec - we'll investigate a bit more but technically, we are not stating support for calls over VPN at this time.

I was using Bria on the iPhone perfectly with our PPTP VPN (pfsense firewall) until I updated to the latest version yesterday. Now, PPTP VPN is broken. To get it working before, I did have to set NAT settings to "User Specified" and disable all the options under that. However, on the latest version, it just doesn't work, which is a real problem as I lost remote communication to our office PBX from my iPhone. Please help!

BTW: in checking with our firewall, it looks as though Bria is now passing the AT&T IP address of the iphone's 3G connection to the firewall instead of the VPN IP address, like it used to. So that is the problem.

Well I was just able to revert to the previous version of Bria for iPhone (thankfully I updated from the iPhone and had not updated from my desktop yet). All is good again and my Bria works great over the PPTP VPN connection. Too bad the new version breaks PPTP VPN connections. A warning to users who rely on PPTP with Bria - do NOT update until it gets resolved.

Just downloaded version 1.0.3393 and the PPTP VPN does not work in the wifi mode. When do you expect this to be solved?
Will it work better in the IPSec or L2TP VPN?

I also have the same problem with Bria no longer working over a VPN connection in ver 1.03393. This feature was working great in the previous version, but now it doesn't.

I noticed on the iTunes App page it is saying that ver 1.04 is currently available, but my 1.03393 app thinks it is up-to-date. Is ver 1.04 really available, and does it restore the VPN capability??

We have some versioning number confusing, sorry for that.
1.0.3393 is in fact 1.0.4.

The fix will be in 1.1, released "soon" (depending in apple acceptance process).
This will be a major upgrade with many enhancements.

Two-part question... do you have a firm date on the new release that will restore VPN capability, or if not, is there any way I can 'downgrade' to the previous version that was working for me? I'm afraid that without the VPN capability I'm dead in the water while waiting for the final fix. I don't recall which version was in use prior to 1.0.3393 but at least I was able to use the phone app.

Finally, is there any chance that the app could allow an end-user to select a different icon that might appear more 'phone-like', instead of the current Bria 'logo'. My wife can never figure out what that means.

hi MGD4me,

apologies for the slow reply. We expect to have the new version of the application in to Apple for review next week. It may take a few days but I would expect the 1.1. release should be available on the App Store shortly after that.

Unless you happened to upgrade via the phone and not your iTunes computer, you may not be able to downgrade. Eg, if you upgraded on the iPhone directly and still have the old version on the computer, you could remove the app from the device and resync with iTunes. Alternatively, not sure if you can restore from an iTunes backup. 1.0.3393 = 1.0.4. The last version was 1.0.3 and would show 1.0.3304 in the application. (We have adjusted our versioning for 1.1 to remove the disparity between version reported in iTunes and within the application itself.)

Regarding the icon, that's our corporate logo and it's an integral part of our product branding. With use, I am sure your wife will come to recognize it as the shortcut to the Bria iPhone Edition.
