X-Lite 3.0 Built 56125 No connection to sip:

Postby mnnl » Thu Jul 29, 2010 12:56 pm

Hi
we've gone from Germany to Switzerland and have to install new our systems with a switzerland provider, called ticino.com.
We work with 2 Laptops from Sony Vario with windows XP over a Fritz!Box WLAN 7570 vDSL with 27.528/11.012 KBits/sec. For to phone we use X-Lite. On one of the new sony-systems everything works perfect, on the other one I get 2 error-messages like this:
1. sip:0788511432@sipgate.de application not found.
2. the help-programm für sip:0788511432@sipgate.de could noch be found. The protokoll in this adress is not o.k. Please make sure, that the adress ist correct and repeat the process.

I always have tried, to configurate both system similar, but anywhere there is missing a sign or a further little programm.
1. At the first mistake-notes perhaps it has to mean: @ticinocom.com, becauce we work now with the new provider in switerland. But where can I install this?

We begin a phone-call, out of our CRM-System (FlowFact), while we click the phone-number. Then a window goes open with all avilable numbers of this client and we chose the write number and the conection is building up. The not-working-system does not find the sip-application - look at the 2 error-messages, which I discribed you unter point 1. and 2.

I checked all the posible-free-maked ports in the firewall and the exceptions in the AntiVir-Programm. Now I've no more idea... . Can someone give me a tipp, please ?

Thanks for you helpful answers.
Best regards.
Matthias.

Hi, Matthias,
I'm afraid the language barrier might still be hard to overcome (I can't understand most of what you're writing) but I'll give it a try. It is quite troubling that you have two otherwise identical systems and while one works perfectly, the other does not, at all. It seems like the error messages you are getting come from the CRM system you are using. And it appears that the problem is that X-Lite is not responding to the CRM's request. Can you confirm that is the case? Also, if you run X-Lite manually, can you make a call? Any call? If X-Lite is working normally on its own (i.e., you can make all the calls you want directly from within X-Lite), then all you have to do is figure out why X-lite is not integrated with your CRM system. I couldn't help you much as I'm not familiar with your CRM system (and I use X-Lite in stand-alone mode) but you could try to see if it's a matter of X-Lite not being the default registered SIP application (as your words make me believe is the case). You could try one simple test: try to invoke X-Lite using some other application that would attempt to start the default registered SIP application, like your web browser (although, I believe I remember reading that X-Lite only integrates properly with Internet Explorer). Open the browser and type something like: "sip:0788511432@sipgate.de" in the address bar and hit "Enter". Usually, all it takes to register X-Lite as the default SIP handler is to run it (and answer "Yes" if it asks you). You could search this forum (or hope that Derek would drop just a line about this) as I'm sure the issue about X-Lite registering as a default SIP application was discussed here.
If, on the other hand, X-Lite cannot make calls from that laptop, you need to troubleshoot that. I remember one of your compatriots having trouble with a Fritz!Box, so you could search for that, too, but he could never connect and, despite all of our efforts, the issue remain unresolved, while you are able to connect one of your laptops, so the 'box is not the problem, it'd be, more likely, the laptop itself. You should focus on any program that might be running on that PC that could be breaking TCP/IP connections (yes, a firewall/malware protection suite is the most likely culprit).
I think that should get your started. In mean time, hopefully, others would contribute and help you resolve this problem.
Good luck!

Thank you so much for your answer, Kamen.
I did try "sip:0788511432@sipgate.de" in the explorer, but there was comming the same error-message.
Where can I found the default SIP application ?

Well, since nothing is responding to a call for a default SIP handler, then you don't seem to have one, or should I say, your SIP application (i.e., X-Lite) is not registered as such. Find X-Lite (although, by default it should be starting with Windows) - either a shortcut on the desktop, or in the "Start" menu (Programs -> CounterPath -> X-Lite, or something like that, however it was installed) and just run it. Then, after you have run it once it should have registered itself as the default SIP application. That might not work as in order to have configured X-Lite someone would have to have run it at least once already. I couldn't find any information about how X-Lite registers itself as default SIP application on Windows but I know it does because when I have more than one SIP client on the same computer and then I start X-Lite it asks me whether I want to make it the default SIP application... in some cases, not always, though. I don't know when. I wish I knew. This is quite a mess. Did I mention I hate the world of VoIP?

Matthias, what do you have under the [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\sip\shell\open\command] in your Registry? It should be something like:
"C:\Program Files\CounterPath\X-Lite\x-lite.exe" -dial="%1"
If that registry key does not even exists, you need to run X-Lite. I could send you the key content manually if it still does not want to register but X-Lite should be able to register itself. Let me know.
